Exposing Hidden Threats to Women in the Academy: Barriers to Well-being and Promotion

The UNCG ACE Women’s Network will host a panel discussion next Tuesday, December 7th at 3pm, with the topic Exposing Hidden Threats to Women in the Academy: Barriers to Well-being and Promotion. We will gather in NIB 510 and the meeting will also be available at https://go.uncg.edu/acewomen. We hope that you will join us!

Across higher education, women face particular obstacles in their path to leadership positions. In our speaker series, successful women leaders have shared their journey and how they encountered and dealt with personal and institutional barriers. This panel discussion will be the first in a series of conversations to bring these issues to light at UNCG and consider approaches to improve gender equity in our campus leadership.

Women leaders at UNCG with particular expertise on this issue will comprise the panel:

Dr. Cathy Akens
Dr. Shelly Brown-Jeffy
Dr. Julia Mendez Smith
Dr. Aileen Reid
Dr. Sandra Shultz
Dr. Edna Tan

Please complete the very brief survey here by Dec 6th to help guide our discussion and to pose questions for the panel and group to consider together.
